Oh, There It Is!

Spoken by Pearson while we were driving on Hwy 140 in Canton, GA:

Pearson: (Pointing out the car window at an abandoned strip mall.) Oh, there's China! So that's where it is! I didn't know how to get there. (Look of amazement on his face.) There it is!

How Wonderful

Me: Pearson, when we get home you and Daddy are going to go inside, but I am not. I am going to go to the gym. Okay?
Pearson: That is a WON-DER-FUL I-DEA!

Saturday

I went to our church's consignment sale on Thursday. I just happened to find a great fireman cosutme for Pearson to wear this Halloween, it came with a coat and boots. So, Pearson has been wearing the boots everywhere. Here is a picture of him and Kirby outside Jersey Mike's wearing his new boots.

That evening we went to one of Kirby's job sites. He is building new locker rooms and stadium bathrooms for an private school in Atlanta named Pace Academy. The school was having a scrimage on their new football field and invited Kirby and some of his coworkers to come. Before the scrimage the football coach invited all the kids to come on the field and run drills with the football players. Pearson was excited just to walk on the field.

Once Pearson walked on the football field he was bored with the entire event. So, we went over to the construction site and let Pearson "drive" a few pieces of equipment. According to Pearson, driving tractors is a lot more fun than watching football.

School

Pearson is very excited about his first day of pre-school.

He is so sad to be leaving me for the morning, as he is running to the car.

Here he is in the car during carpool. His nerves are obviously getting the best of him.

He had a great first day with his new teachers Mrs. Angela and Mrs. Heather. He was excited and ready to go back on Wednesday. But...

this is how we spent Wednesday. It is probably going to be how we will be spending Thursday and Friday, too. Hopefully we will not be on the couch all weekend. Gotta go, on our way to see Dr. Tim.

Out of the Mouths of Babes

Our church is doing a Baby Bottle Boomerang to benefit the HOPE Center. The HOPE Center is a Christian ministry in Woodstock devoted to sharing the hope of the Lord Jesus Christ, promoting sexual purity, and providing physical, emotional and spiritual support to women and men facing pregnancy-related issues. We picked up a bottle to fill with money. Next Sunday night the filled bottles will be returned and all money collected will go directly to the HOPE Center. When Person saw the bottle he asked me if I had fed my baby with that bottle. (What? Um, no!) So, Kirby and I explained to him that there are some people who have babies who need money to take care of them. We told him that we are going to put some money in the bottle for the babies and their families. Pearson said, "Yeah, I am going to put my money in there for the babies." As soon as we got home Pearson ran to his bank and asked me to open it for him so he could put all his money in the bottle. Kirby took out a few of the larger coins for Pearson to keep. This morning Pearson immediately wanted to put more money in the baby bottle. He said, "Mommy can you get the rest of my money so I can give it to the babies?" I told him that you can put all your money in the bottle, but you may want to keep some for yourself. If you give all your money to the babies then you won't have any money for candy." Without pausing Pearson said, "I want to give all my money to the babies. I want to fill the money all the way to the top." As soon as he finished filling the bottle he said, "Mommy can we go now? I want to take the bottle to the baby's house so his mommy and daddy can open it up and get the money out."

To me it is a common knowledge that babies are born with sin. With a bossy, self-centered, friend-biting, two-year old at my house...I experience it everyday! But, when I hear these innocent and honest words about giving from the same two-year old, it makes me stop and think about how I should look at giving. I pray that I will once again have the same attitude about giving in the name of God. I want to be able to give and not worry about tomorrow. I want to be able to give what I know God wants me to give back to Him today and then completely trust him with providing for tomorrow.

Van-zillas Should be Taken VERY Seriously

Pearson and I went to the grocery store last week and, along with other groceries, bought a box of VanillaWafers. Pearson held the box through the grocery store and in the car on the way home. After I unloaded the car and brought the grocery bags inside, Pearson waited (un-patiently) for me to put the gorceries away. I had told him he could have some wafers when I was finished. I pulled the box out of it's bag and sat it on the counter. Pearson stood there, looking at the box. All of the sudden Pearson said, "Mommy!! Do they pinch?" He was standing there with a very worried look on his face. "Does who pinch?", I asked. Pearson very slowly pointed to the wafers box.

I could almost hear the theme from Jaws playing in the background. It cracks me up to think of what could have been going through his mind while looking at that box.
